Depression can feel like a heavy weight that makes everyday life harder than it should be. You might feel tired, empty, or like you're moving through life in a fog. Sometimes, even getting out of bed can feel impossible. But you don’t have to go through this alone.

At Starks Therapy Group, we understand that depression is more than just feeling sad—it’s a complex mental health condition that affects how you think, feel, and act. Whether it shows up as a persistent sense of hopelessness, a loss of interest in the things you used to enjoy, or even physical symptoms like changes in sleep or appetite, we’re here to help you find relief and healing.

You Deserve to Feel Better

Depression can make you feel isolated, but many people share this struggle, and there is hope. Our compassionate therapists are skilled in providing a space where you can explore what you're going through without judgment. We work with you to develop strategies to manage your symptoms and rediscover the activities, relationships, and goals that bring you joy.

How We Help

We offer a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on breaking the cycle of negative thinking patterns, and mindfulness practices that help you stay grounded in the present moment. Together, we’ll tailor a treatment plan that fits your needs and helps you move toward a brighter future.

Signs You Might Be Experiencing Depression:

  • Persistent sadness or a “heavy” feeling that lasts for weeks

  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy

  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions

  • Feeling guilty, worthless, or like you’re a burden to others

  • Changes in sleep patterns, such as sleeping too much or too little

  • Physical symptoms, like headaches or unexplained aches and pains

For those with treatment-resistant or severe depression...

Did you know that for over 20 years, ketamine has been utilized to support clients with persistent depression, anxiety, those who are healing from trauma, and other mental health conditions?

Here at Starks Therapy Group we partner with Richard Clark, CRNA, APRN and the  AyaFusion Ketamine Clinic to provide ketamine (via intramuscular, IV or sublingual tablets) in conjunction with professional psychotherapy for maximum, safe benefit in the comfort of our Oak Park offices with oversight from an on-site registered nurse.

"ALL ABOUT DEPRESSION" ... In this episode, we interview Autumn Starks, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Autumn has been practicing psychotherapy for 15 years and her focus is on treating individuals with trauma, mood disorders, survivors of religious trauma as well as treating other psychotherapists. She uses Internal Family Systems therapy in her work. Autumn is also a certified Psychedelic-Assisted Therapist, through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, and works extensively with Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. We ask all the hard-hitting questions (like what is considered depression and the differences between grief and being a little blue) and do a deep dive into all things related to Ketamine and everything you'd ever want to know about this treatment for depression and other mental health issues.
